As many of you may know, a new law passed a few months ago requiring every child in California receive all of the vaccines on the CDC schedule in order to attend school or daycare, public or private. This law goes into effect next school year. Children who are already enrolled in school or daycare who are not fully vaccinated are able to file a “personal belief exemption” (PBE) before January 1, 2016. Filing a PBE allows a child to attend school until the next vaccine “checkpoint” — currently kindergarden and 7th grade — without the need to receive all of the required vaccines.
Both Dr. Drouin and I are available to sign PBE’s for families needing these by January 1. We do require an appointment for this. I am not sending this out to start a discussion on the pros or cons of mandatory vaccination, but to inform everyone of this impending deadline and our availability around this.
